Salsa is the Latin dance form that has developed out of a mixture of many different dances. It has a very distinct tropical beat and its popularity has exploded over the past 10 years. Although its original heritage is disputed between Puerto Rican and Cuban people, almost every country in Latin America has evolved its own form of salsa. Not only that, but salsa has become popular all over the world. You can find many different groups in the UK, Japan, Russia, and even Germany. As with almost every Latin beat, there is a style of dance to go along with it. Salsa dancing involves partner dancing, where the man leads the woman. If he is good, he makes his partner look amazing with ease by leading her to do complicated turn patterns and even dips. Nevertheless, you can do a form of salsa called "shines" all by yourself which entails fancy foot work and precision. |
