Class
begins at 7pm.
We ask that you arrive slightly
early, around 6:45, because the instructors will begin right at
7pm. Classes begin with a warm-up consisting of the basic steps
that
make up salsa dancing and will continue with the instructor(s) then
following up with material appropriate to your skill level.
If
you are new to salsa and confuse your steps, don’t worry we
will be there to help you find your footing. Remember don’t
get frustrated, the purpose of learning salsa is to have fun!
Below you will find some helpful tips to ensure
that your salsa experience is a good one:
- What to wear?
- When considering what to wear, the most
important thing is to be comfortable! It is not uncommon to
see our members in t-shirts and shorts or jeans. Remember that you will
be dancing for several hours and that salsa can make you sweat so dress
comfortably.
- Shoes
- We recommend that you wear shoes that don't have a
lot of "grip" like gym shoes. Instead, wear smooth sole shoes
or even socks. If you have a few extra dollars to spend and
want to upgrade, try a pair of “dance sneakers.”
They can be found online or at local retailers.
- When will I get good?
- Like everything salsa requires practice.
Although you might feel off beat during the first several classes,
remember that everyone else is feeling that way or has in the past.
Salsa dancing is not an easy task but it is a very rewarding one. If
you stick to it, practice regularly, and remember to have fun with it
you will find your self spinning or being spun with the best of them in
no time.
- Gum/Mints
- Though not required, it is always
appreciated! =)
